The exchange serves the needs of companies that search, with its help, for new commercial possibilities. The principle used by the exchange is a popular tool of trade turnover. Treating waste as exchange material is an absolute novelty in Poland and – let’s emphasize this fact - outside of Poland just as well.
The objective of ZielonyMost.pl is to make electronic services accessible for trades connected with natural environment protection as well as to build an Internet forum gathering people devoted to the problem. This state created a situation of paradox with wide discrepancies in prices for the same services in different parts of the country. Mainly the costs go up as a result of transporting the waste long distances, which could have been neutralized nearer their production site.

The exchange, which started at www.ZielonyMost.pl, has already achieved vast part of the ultimate functionality; the final shape is scheduled to be achieved in a few months. The interesting bit of the exchange will surely be the session connected with trading in emissions – businesses releasing pollution below the established norm would be able to sell the difference to businesses that go beyond that norm. Trading in emissions will start in Poland together with introducing appropriate legal solutions (similar to those in Western Europe).

ZielonyMost.pl is past the testing period in its activity. In the first quarter of 2001 around 35 tons of waste was put up for auction. In some cases prices decreased by 70%. The dynamics of new incoming offers as well as the number of visitors on the site hope for excellent prospect.
